Why thank you Chris. I found the jimdo package very good to work with. I have fooled around with blogs and websites, but never made anything I particularly liked. I believe the subject matter does make a difference.

Don,
Thanks for the videos from New Bethel. I added a 'clickable' link to your ' you tube ' videos to the "Scenes From Singings" page.
best wishes, Chris

Ann Strange sent a picture of Knoxville area singers that traveled by buss to Greenville. You can view it in the Photo Gallery, click the button next to "What's New" above.
Ann said "We had a fine day in Greeneville. The next bus trip will be June 22 to Beech Grove in Sevier County. Sign up soon!"

I have started a group in Johnson City and we are having monthly "workshops". We are using William Walker's "Christian Harmony." My wife and also sing the New Harp.
We had a very successful all day singing in November at ETSU with over 70 in attendance. But, the turnout for the monthly events has been underwhelming.
I recall the first time we ever heard the shapes; it was at Headrick's Chapel in 1989. Though we did not sing that day, we both knew we wanted more of it. The circumstances of our lives did limit out participation for a time. But, in the past few years, those have changed.
The problem for us was distance. There were no singings in our immediate area (upper east Tennessee) so considerable travel time was required. Today, we are at least able to make day trips for singings from both books. My happiest time is the morning of a singing - getting ready to go.
So, returning to the topic - why I love it.... I recall a hymn from the Orthodox Divine Liturgy, "Let us now lay aside all earthly cares..." When I find my place in the square, I can do that, usually. Of course, there are other things that draw me - Good fellowship, good food, honoring a tradition.
I feel blessed to now do a little to keep the tradition alive and growing and I look forward to the next time we shall sit and sing a spell.

My main reason for choosing Christian Harmony is that there are more all day singings. It's a matter of travel time expended for singing time available.
I support the Monthly singing in Greeneville and that is very convenient to the Tri Cities as far as location. I thought another New Harp group here would be redundant. But, if someone started a New Harp group in Johnson City, I would support it.

I've started this wiki to enhance communication among the community singing from The New Harp of Columbia. I will be calling on some of you to join me in keeping this wiki interesting and up-to-date. I welcome your comments and contributions.

It was just a wonderful experience this past summer. The facility is outstanding; the staff attentive without being intrusive and the food - we ate very well.
Good classes and good singings, and, most importantly, good people. Great that there will be an additional day.
I'm making this a "must do" for the summer.

It was suggested that we change the format of the singings from "annual" and "monthly" to regional such as Blount County Singings, etc. I think we might want to move the "Contacts" to this format also. What do others think?

I like your suggestion on organizing the contacts and schedule. We need to be sure to emphasize the entire community of singers which extends beyond East Tennessee as well as provide a focus on the individual regions. For the Contacts page this will be relatively easy to accomplish. There is a greater challenge for the Schedule page. Maybe we could have one schedule that lists every singing and then other schedules that list singings for each regions.
